Junior Mathematical Challenge 2021

Novaschool Sunland International joins the Junior Mathematical Challenge 2021 with Y7 and Y8 students.

Today Monday 26th of April, after being tested here, our 30 best students will represent the school in this competition.

The JMC is a 60-minute, multiple-choice competition aimed at students of British Schools and colleges. Problems are designed to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic techniques.

As a charity, UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) does not make a profit from entry fees but they invest all the money raised on advancing the education of young people in mathematics.

Taking part to this event is a stimulating and rewarding experience for all students and teachers involved. At the end of the competition the UKMT award the top-scoring 40% of participants with Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1.

Besides, they invite around 2000 of the very highest performers to take part in the Junior Olympiad and over 10.000 to take part in the Junior Kangaroo.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

World Book Day 2021

Today Friday, April 23rd, we celebrate the International Book Day at Novaschool Sunland.

In 1995, UNESCO – as proposed by the International Publishers Union – approved the celebration of the International Book and Copyright Day. The date chosen is important in the history of literature because it coincides with the day of death and birth of some of the best-known writers.

In Spain this tradition has existed since when Alfonso XIII signed a royal decree in 1926 to officially create the “Feast of the Spanish Book”. Nowadays it is a commemoration that is celebrated all around the world with the purpose of promoting reading but also defending and protecting the publishing industry.

Our students will celebrate this event with a book exchange. Each student chooses a book they believe might be interesting to classmates and wraps it around. A keyword or quote is placed so that the person who catches it knows something about what’s going on.

A blind date with a book!
