Cártama, 7 de febrero de 2014. Durante la última semana del trimestre pasado, los alumnos de Primaria participaron en una competición de matemáticas. Un selecto grupo de representantes de las clases, formaron equipos: equipo rojo, azul, amarillo y equipo verde. La competición consistió en un divertido concurso de matemáticas con participación del público!!
Realizaron cálculos de aproximación sobre cuántos pies o dedos o cabezas habría entre el público…el equipo que menos se aproximara…recibiría un “plato de nata montada en la cara” fue una experiencia muy divertida incluyendo la nata montada!!.
El estudiante de secundaria, Rafael Morondo, participó en el concurso. Tenía que comer tantas nubes de golosina como pudiera en 60 segundos…los concursantes debían adivinar cuantas podría comer (o aproximarse lo más posible). Los perdedores, volvieron a saborear la nata montada en sus caras!!
El resto de la competición consistió en una variedad de problemas y preguntas en los que el público ayudó a sus compañeros a sumar puntos y a resolver los problemas.
Al final de la competición, solo cuatro puntos separaron a los equipos. La clasificación final fue: equipo azul en cuarto lugar, equipo verde en tercera posición, en segundo lugar finalizó el equipo amarillo y, la primera Copa de ChristMATH del año 2013 fue ganada por el equipo rojo de Álvaro!!!
Cártama, 7th February 2014. During the last week of the winter term upper primary took part in a Christmas Maths challenge. It involved a select group of representatives forming a team from each colour house, Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. The challenge was in the form of a fun Maths quiz with audience participation.
There were many rounds with interesting activities and round 4, the estimation round, had the closest estimators winning points and the least accurate getting a face full of squirty cream. We all loved it, including the one that got creamed.
Rafa Morondo assisted in the quiz by eating as many marshmallows as he could in 60 seconds. Again the teams estimated before he started and cream was flying again. The remaining rounds covered reading the time, comparing measure and forming given shapes with giant elastic bands. The audience also helped get their teams extra points with a variety of problem solving questions.
When the scores were counted, only four points separated the four teams. The final standings were: in fourth place the Blue team, in third place the Green team, in second place the Yellow team and for the first time the ChristMATHS cup had been won by Alvaro’s Red team.
