This Friday, March 18, the school centres of the Novaschool Educational Group organise a solidarity race in collaboration with UNICEF on the occasion of World Water Day.
On World Water Day we remember all the achievements made over the last decades and the challenges to bring water to all the children of the world that it still represents today. The difficulties that humanity faces relatively to this issue depend on the new threats; the pandemic, conflicts and the climate crisis make the current moment key to continue working to promote the right to water.
From Novaschool Sunland we know that every drop counts, therefore, we join this initiative with enthusiasm. We believe that everyone should have access to water, hygiene and sanitation; that is why we celebrate our solidarity race in order to support UNICEF as a friendly school.
The drops race is a sports-festive activity in which students and teachers can participate while family and friends have the possibility of sponsoring them, thus contributing to gather more drops. This sporting-solidarity event brings together the entire educational community in the achievement of a common goal: the improvement of child survival.
Registration and materials are completely free so that all the money raised is destined to the economic objective that the school has chosen. The financial contribution of Novaschool families and staff this year will go to support Ukraine through a donation.
Each participant has customised their bib number making it a unique piece: art, sport and solidarity come together for the right to water, sanitation and hygiene around the world. This career goes beyond being an educational activity because it allows us to work on something that matters a lot to us at Novaschool: the Sustainable Development Goals.
The right to water is SDG number 6 of the United Nations and is composed of 6 goals that we have worked on in the classroom prior to the race. UNICEF has provided us with the appropriate school materials for each educational stage such as images, activities and elements of reflection. All this has provided the participants with a basis to decorate their bib with a drawing, a phrase, a slogan or a claim.
The total amount raised in Novaschool Sunland International is 1.934,10€.
