This week our primary and secondary students had the amazing opportunity to watch two wonderful theatre shows: Beauty and the beast & Edward Scissorhands.
La Tourné Teatro offers theatre in key curriculum languages with the collaboration of the best native actors as a great form of entertainment and a source of learning for children. Seeing theatre in English helps increase student’s concentration and understanding of the language. It is an excellent tool to teach and reinforce students classroom learning in not only language but also art, music, classical literature and historical works in a fun interactive way.
Theatrical productions have a lasting impact on students becuase they connect instantly with the drama that unfolds in front of them. Theatre helps pupils to develop empathy, tolerance and social awareness, cooperation and collaboration using 4 learning styles: visual, aural, verbal and physical.
Theatre offers a personal connection and engagement for viewers because the drama presents itself as the most realistic form of education, due to the nature of stories that are often based on real life events. It inspires them to think more deeply about the issues raised and even learn how they can help others or even themselves in a similar situation.
At Novaschool Sunland we believe that arts are vital in our curriculum; creativity is without any doubt a skill that can be learned and developed throughout the education and beyond. Through drama young people can envision, experience and undestand the world on a different level. They have the opportunity to learn actively through creative and expressive activities in order to appreciate different perspectives of the world in which we live.
