Cártama, 30 de abril de 2013. Enhorabuena a las chicas. Tres estudiantes de Novaschool Sunland International han sido premiadas con el `Bronze International Award´.
Las alumnas han completado varios voluntariados dentro de su comunidad. Anver y Brook trabajaron en una tienda para la beneficencia en Coín. Por su parte, Ashley trabajó con niños en un club de actividades deportivas en verano. Todas tomaron parte en el club de senderismo del colegio que se reúne una vez al mes para sus salidas. Algunas de las rutas fueron muy difíciles y mostraron un gran espíritu de superación, por ejemplo, con el miedo a la altura. Algunas de las zonas que se visitaron fueron la Sierra de Grazalema, Ronda y el pico de la Torrecilla, con 1919m; además de otras jornadas por el Parque de la Sierra de las Nieves cerca de Ojén y La Concha, a 1275m.
Anver y Brook aprendieron a organizar y hacer funcionar una biblioteca. Mientras, Ashley aprendió cómo hacer una máscara de carnaval como parte del programa de habilidades. Finalmente, en octubre las chicas llevaron a un grupo de compañeros del colegio por una ruta en la zona de la Sierra de Grazalema para pasar la noche posteriormente en el campo, en Ronda.
Nunca es demasiado tarde para comenzar el International Award en Novaschool Sunland. El Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award es un emocionante programa de auto-desarrollo a disposición de todos los jóvenes con edades comprendidas entre los 14 y 24 años. Su objetivo es formarlos para la vida y marcar la diferencia.
Cártama, 30th April 2013. Congratulations to the girls. Three students have been awarded their Bronze International Award.
The students did a variety of voluntary work within the local community. Anver and Brook worked in a charity shop in Coin and Ashley worked with children in a summer activity club in a sports business. All students took part in the school´s walking club which meets once a month to complete the physical part of the award. Some of the walks were extremely challenging and by overcoming phobias, for example fear of heights, the students were a credit to themselves. Areas were walked in the Sierra de Grazalema, Ronda and Torrecilla Mountain (1,919 metres) and many different walks in the Park of Sierra de las Nieves near Ojén and La Concha (1275 metres).
While some nursed their broken bones, others had fun in the snow which was a first time experience for one of the students. Anver and Brook learnt new skills on the organisation and workings of a library, while Ashley learnt how to make a carnival mask for the skills part of the award. Finally, in October, the girls led a group of other International members on a trek in the Sierra de Grazalema area with an overnight camp in Ronda.
It’s never too late to start the International Award here at Novaschool Sunland International. The Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award is an exciting self-development programme available to all young people between the ages of 14 and 24. It aims to equip them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and the world.
