Trip to bring Geography to life for the year 6 students

The local river in Cártama was too smelly and the rubbish therein would have spoilt our trip so we went to the Rio Grande near Pizarra instead. The name does not quite suit the actual river in its present state! However, Year 6 enjoyed combining what they had been studying in Science with Geography and Maths. Students measured the speed of the flow, the width and the depth of the river in three different sections along its length. They recorded their findings on data collection sheets and will hopefully compare the information with more data from a planned trip to the same place in December. Year 6 students were wonderfully behaved and worked really well in teams.
