Cártama. Los alumnos de Year 11, 12 y 13 estuvieron de viaje en Berlín acompañados por Miss Ute (profesora de arte). El día que llegamos coincidió con el 18 cumpleaños de Jeannine (alumna de bachillerato) y lo celebramos degustando comida italiana. Descubrimos la parte occidental y oriental de Berlín, visitamos algunos de los 57 mercados de Navidad, nos tomamos un Gluehwein caliente y por supuesto, también probamos la Currywurst, salchicha especial. Visitamos la Bauhaus Archiv, la Nueva Galería Nacional y la East Side Gallery (punto de encuentro que habla del antiguo Berlín y del nuevo Berlín, la antigua Alemania separada y la moderna Alemania unificada).
Caminamos por el Unter den Linden, visitamos la Isla de los Museos, (Patrimonio de la Humanidad, declarado Patrimonio de la UNESCO ubicado en medio del Spree) y también visitamos otro Mercado de Navidad.
Un punto culminante de la noche fue visitar el Reichstag. La terraza de la azotea en la cúpula del edificio del Reichstag ofrece unas vistas espectaculares del distrito parlamentario, el gobierno y muchos de los monumentos de la ciudad.
Cártama. Year 11, 12, 13, students went on a trip to Berlin with Miss Ute (our Art teacher). The day they arrived was Jeannine’s 18th birthday, which we celebrated with Italian cuisine. We discovered the western and eastern part of Berlin, visited some of the 57 Christmas markets, had a hot Gluehwein, and, of course, ate a Currywurst (a special sausage). We visited The Bauhaus Archiv, The New National Gallery and The East Side Gallery (a meeting point that talks about an old Berlin and a New Berlin; a separated and a unified Germany).
We walked along the Unter den Linden, visited the Museum Island, (a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site lying in the middle of the Spree) and another Christmas Market.
A highlight in the evening was visiting the Reichstag. The roof terrace and dome of the Reichstag Building offered spectacular views of the parliamentary and government district and other Berlin attractions.
