The importance of attending college fairs before choosing a university career

Our Sixth-Form students had the opportunity to participate in two university fairs which took place in Malaga in October: The British Education Fair and UNITOUR 2022.

Choosing a university career is a very important step in a student’s life; it is a decision that defines the first steps that will lead to the development of their future professional life. In fact, it is essential to attend university fairs to gather all the necessary and useful information to consider when making a decision that can change your life.

An educational fair is the perfect occasion to talk to universities’ representatives, their students, and alumni to obtain detailed and personalised information. These events have become a fundamental tool to avoid intermediaries and have direct contact with university guidance professionals.

It is important to go well prepared and consult previously the programme of each event, once there it is best to get a map of the exhibition and the complete list of the institutions that participate. In addition, it is advisable to carry a notebook or a tablet to take note of all relevant information and write down impressions.

The goal of attending these events is to gather as much information as possible about the career and curriculum of interest. Above all, reflect on the pros and cons of each option to choose the one that really fits the demands and expectations of each one. The guidance professionals always leave their business card in case students want to contact them again to clarify doubts.

Throughout this process of choosing the university career, educational fairs can be the perfect place to also find out about the scholarships and financial aid available to candidates to obtain a degree in a university payment centre or sign up for an educational project abroad.

At Novaschool Sunland we are aware of the importance of this stage in the lives of our Sixth formers and we do everything possible to help them build their professional future, always accompanying and advising them.
